  Christ's Co-Mission International's UPDATE #10 Jan2004

As I prepare to return to Ghana for a month and a half, I'd like to share a letter that I wrote in 2002:

"Dear Friends,
I'm writing from Odumase Krobo, Ghana, West Africa. ...The Lord has been so faithful to guide my steps and make His presence known. There have been many Divinely appointed circumstances that arise to remind me He is leading and I must simply follow. ...
In May we knew the school we sponsor here was in desperate need of help. ...I daydreamed to the Lord about residing close to the school. To my delight (Ps.37:4+5), the first Monday I was here visiting the school a voice called to me from the path behind where I was sitting - a Christian I barely knew. Well, without request, he invited me to stay at a house that he supervises. My second floor room overlooks our school. As a friend once quoted to me, God's work done in God's way never lacks God's supply. Daily, He divinely puts me in the right place at the right time. I should not be surprised having know Him so long, but I am constantly amazed. Lord, help me to trust you more.
Each day is an adventure. From climbing the historic Krobo Mtn. to meeting with the Paramount Chief to mixing mortar and helping build a poultry coup. From my arms and legs being dessert one evening for several dozen flies to being served a complete fish with instructions to eat the whole thing to seeing people with very little give and give. From missing my wife to laughing with children to shuffling through stacks of paperwork. ...From praying with a woman who is recovering from loosing a twin at birth (the doctors didn't know there was another baby inside until she returned to the hospital with serious bleeding) to spending a couple hours with a young school headmaster whose older brother was just jailed for allegedly killing their younger brother. Each day there is reason to awaken and follow Jesus.
Having met with over 20 pastors in the past few days there seems to be a common sense of purpose/calling to reach the Kroboland for Jesus and to create jobs for Christians who are so desperately struggling economically. There is a significant awareness and respect for Christianity here, but the destitution so distracts many from fulfilling their potential. John Sanders and I sense a continued call to participate alongside of these dear people ...
Many of us are quite concerned for the future of the children here, especially those who don't attend school. As a Krobo pastor said last year, Children are like arrows ... where they are pointed is where they will end up. There are great possibilities but despair, fetish(voodoo) powers, AIDS, poverty, etc. are real enemies here. The Lord's call upon us here is challenging. We prepare for battle but victory rests with The Lord.
Thank you for your prayers. The Creator & Sustainer hears.
Great is God's faithfulness! David J."

Since the writing of that letter, both Prime Meridian Opportunities (Ghana based) and Christ's Co-Mission International (US based) have been incorporated. PMO registered "Loved By Jesus School" and the school is progressing very well - both spiritually and educationally. During this next trip I anticipate having time with several Pastors as PMO attempts to relieve some of the destitution through prayerful development of more employment opportunities for the faithful (Galatians 6:9&10).
